General information on recruit conditions
and vacancies in the Czech Republic

          Economics of the Czech Republic, according to the statistical data, permanently develops. Alongside with some unemployment (about 8,5 per cent from the number of able-bodied population of the Czech Republic) demand, first of all, on qualified specialists permanently grows. There is an acute necessity in computer specialists, workers of trade, service and transport sections.

          In connaction with the considerable sizes of construstion the workers of building specialities are in demand including the specialist and workers from abroad. According to the official data of Police of the Czech Republic (as at 30 June 2001), officially in the Czech Republic worked 41 348 foreigners.Among them:

  • Ukrainians 16 921;
  • Poles 7 306;
  • Moldavians 1 522;
  • Byelorussians 1 228;
  • Russians 949.

          The majority of intermediator recruit firms of the Czech Republic suggest to the clients to execute the questionnaire before the personal interview which as usual passes in a few stages. In the data banks of these companies is possible to find desirable vacancies. Among the main employment requirements of the Czech Republic are the following:

  • Foreign languages (mainly English and German);
  • Skill of computer operation (as the user);
  • Driver's license(in the main category "B");
  • Practical experience and skills on a selected work.

          The whole number of corporations of the Czech Republic propose training of the specialists in the Czech Republic and abroad.
          Labour market of the Czech Republic is regulated by number of legislative and normative acts, which are permanently perfected and adapted to the EU demands.
          The employment of the foreigners and stateless persons in the Czech Republic is regulated by the international agreements and the quantity of these persons is regulated by annual quotas. Agreement and quota on employment act between Ukraine and the Czech Republic too.


General conditions of employment in the Czech Republic

  • The employment of a foreigner (or stateless person) in the Czech Republic is possible if the last has the work permition and permition to stay in the Czech Republic, which are established by the laws of the Czech Republic.

  • The working permit also issued by Czech enterprise, where the person will execute the duties.

  • Special rate of the working permits is existed.

  • Only the citizens of Slovak Republic have an exception of this order of employment (according to the Law No 227/1993 Coll. and intergovernmental agreement between the Czech Republic and Slovak Republic. On mutual employment…).

  • As a rule, firms and organizations of the Czech Republic, which demand workers and specialists address to recruit corporations.

  • These corporations execute all complex of activities on formalities solution (in state bodies) for person who wish to work.

Information on visas (conditions of obtaining, terms and fees)
  • Such type of visa is possible to obtain outside the Czech Republic in Consular office of Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ukraine (or in other country, with which the Czech Republic has diplomatic relations).

  • The employment visa is issued by Consular office of the Czech Republic, on the base of Solution of Employment Administration office of the Czech Republic about the consent on employment and Confirmation about maintenance of accomodation on the territory of the Czech Republic.

  • As a rule, the visa is issued for the whole term of employment (in accordance with the contract), but no more than for one year with a capability of it prolongation.

  • The cost of the visa is determined by Consular offices of the Czech Republic and makes about 1000 CZK (USD 26,3).

Required documents for obtaining the employment visa

  • Accomodation confirmation from accept company, in case of private accomodation - statement of the owner of an apartment stating his/her ability and willingness to provide an accomodation, signed and notarized, and the lease contract.

  • The Criminal History Record from Ukraine (ussued by law-enforcement bodies), translated into the Czech language and notarized.

  • The Criminal History Record of the Czech Republic (is possible to obtain in Prague), issued by Consulate Office of Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ukraine.

  • Original travel document (Passport).
  • Insurance policy for the term of employment (or for 1 year).
  • Three passport size photographs (3x4,5).
  • The filled and signed application on visa with the purpose of employment in the Czech Republic (issued by Consulate of Embassy of Czech Republics in Ukraine).

Insurance (conditions and fee)

  • The medical insurance in the Czech Republic is necessary for all citizen including foreigners. Therefore insurance agreement for the foreign worker is obliged.

  • The foreigner can sign the medical insurances agreement in country of a permanent residence.

  • In case of absence of the above mantioned agreement the foreigner is obliged to sign agreement of medical insurance with local insurer of to the Czech Republic.

  • For example, agreement signed with VZP of the Czech Republic.   The price of insurance policy will be 1 100 CZK (or USD 29) per one month.
